On the 14th of November 2019, Grades 5 and 6 students had an excursion to Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Nusantara (Museum MACAN) in Kebon Jeruk, Jakarta. We are currently inquiring into the unit under the theme "How We Express Ourselves" and learning about the different ways people use to express themselves. We were very excited to visit Museum MACAN, because we knew that it would be a very memorable experience.

When we arrived, we were welcomed by Kak Ade and Kak Galuh. They would guide us throughout the visit. The first activity was the zine-making workshop. Kak Ade and Kak Galuh explained the history behind the popularity of zines in some communities and we got the opportunity to try making our own zines with our chosen topics. It was really fun to create!

We then had a tour and visited four main areas in Museum MACAN: Xu Bing: Thought and Method exhibition, Colours in Cave by Mit Jai Inn, Infinity Mirrored Room by Yayoi Kusama, and the display area of Museum MACAN's collection.

The four areas are stunning! We learnt that expressing ourselves is important and how arts can inspire people to extend their creativity. It was a really precious opportunity for us. Thank you, Museum MACAN for the experience! Let's express ourselves through arts!
