Grade 5 Observing Plants around the School Area

On October 10th, Grade 5 students observed the plants in the school area. This activity was part of the learning on the unit about adaptation. Prior to the activity, they watched two videos about parts of plants, different types of plants and their adaptations. The students then observed some plants and used their senses to find the uniqueness of those plants. They were assigned to observe three plants in three different areas. They paid attention to the size of each plant, colour, leaf shape, stem, flower, fruit, texture of the branch and other characteristics. It was interesting to see how some plants are homes to insects and other animals, as well as to see how diverse the world of plants is. In the following weeks, the students will also learn about the adaptations of animals. Keep your learning spirit high, students!
