Grade 4 students have just explored a unit under the theme of How the World Works with the central idea “Observation of space has allowed for a greater understanding of the universe”. We had the opportunity to visit Skyworld as one of the learning engagements. We learnt more about sky objects and tools for exploration.

It was a fun day. We arrived at about 9 am at Skyworld. We went around to the Exhibit Room with the tour guide to have space education and listen to the explanation about sky objects and tools for exploration. We saw some pictures of astronomers, as well as some replicas of telescopes and rockets. We watched a video about Apollo 13 and visited the control room of Rumika. Before we ended our activity in the Exhibit Room, we took pictures with 3D space suits.

Next, we went to digital planetarium. We watched and listened to the explanation about stars and other sky objects. We learnt about planets in the Milky Way and watched a video about travelling to Mars. We learnt more about new sky objects and tools for space exploration.

After all those activities, we went outside and learnt how to make a water rocket and how to launch it. It was awesome! We enjoyed it a lot. We learnt a lot from the excursion and we understand more about the universe.
