Grade 4 students have recently explored a unit under the theme of “How We Organize Ourselves”. The central idea was “Many stages of thinking and planning are needed to organize events successfully”. As the summative assessment task, the students were asked to plan and prepare an event in groups, based on their classes: Boston group and Sydney group. They discussed the issue and cooperatively decided on what they needed to hold their events, starting from choosing the theme, dividing the work, preparing and collecting the items they needed such as invitations and refreshments, decorating the venues, as well as preparing a rundown of the events. The teachers supervised and gave some suggestions related to their events.

On June 13th, the events were held. Teachers and staff members were invited. The performances were great and we were very pleased to see the results of the students’ hard work. After holding the events, the students reflected on their work, what had been done well and then thought about improvements that could be made next time. They learnt that good teamwork is essential in preparing events.
