Grade 4 Students Exploring A Unit on Human Body Systems

Grade 4 students started term 2 by having an outdoor activity as the provocation of their new unit under the theme of Who We Are with the central idea "The effective interactions between human body systems contribute to health and survival.” The activities were tug of war, sack race and sprint. After they played those 3 games, they had a reflection to get some insights about the unit. They described  what they felt in their body parts after doing the games.

These activities also promoted students’ further inquiries. They wondered about how their body works. They questioned why they sweat, why their hearts thumped, why they were out of breath, etc.  This was an exciting as well as a meaningful learning engagement for the students.
