“The true method of knowledge is experiment.” -William Blake

Grade 2 students have currently explored a unit under the theme How the World Works.  The central idea for this unit is “Weather Impacts Our Daily Lives”.  As the summative assessment task, Grade 2 students held a weather mini exhibition on Thursday, 9th March 2016.

At the beginning of the unit, the students observed and collected data by reading a wall thermometer as the provocation. To get them more engaged with the unit, they interviewed their family, teachers and the school community. After interviewing, the students had the opportunity to share the information and had a discussion. They found out different types of weather in Indonesia, especially in Cibubur. Then, the students had the opportunity to decide a type of weather for their experiment. They also had the opportunity to research about the topic they chose from books and the internet. Through these activities, we found out that weather impacts our daily lives. The students are more aware of day-to-day weather and weather phenomena. Through the mini exhibition, the students learnt to conduct experiments and explain their understandings to the audience. Keep exploring, Grade 2!
