Grade 8 Parent Presentation: “It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves.”

Every 10th November, Indonesians celebrate National Heroes Day and we decided that for this year’s Parent Presentation, we wanted to take advantage of the momentum and so “heroes” was the main concept of our play. We wanted to honour the heroes who fought for our nation and country.

ECC Parent Presentation: Play, Senses, Safety

Early Childhood Centre (ECC) students conducted their Parent Presentation on 13th November 2015. Through this event, they showed the learning that has taken place in three of their units. The units came from two different transdisciplinary themes: ‘How We Express Ourselves’ for Pre-K and ‘Who We Are’ for Kindy and Reception. The central ideas of the units from the three classes were combined into one theme, ‘Play, Senses and Safety’.

Our Exciting Visit to Museum Layang-Layang Indonesia

Grade 1 students are currently exploring a unit under the theme of “Where We Are in Place and Time” with the central idea “Technology has changed how we play”. As one of the learning experiences, we went on an excursion to Museum Layang-Layang Indonesia, on November 10th, 2015. This museum is located in Pondok Labu, Jakarta Selatan and was founded in 2003 by Ibu Endang Ernawati. We wanted to explore how people played before the introduction of technology, as well as the development of technology in the kite-making process.

Grade 4 Parent Presentation

On 6th November 2015, Grade 4 students had their Parent Presentation. We wanted to share with parents and other classes what we have learnt in this unit. The central idea is Children face a variety of challenges, risks, and opportunities and it is under the transdisciplinary theme of "Sharing the Planet". We used a tagline from a quote "A child’s laughter could simply be one of the most beautiful sounds in the world".
