Children's literature plays an important role in our learning. It provides opportunities for students to respond to stories and develop creativity and imagination. Children love stories and learn a lot from reading and listening to them. Recently, Pre-K students listened to a story titled "Help Yourself, Little Red Hen" by Alvin Granowsky. Together with their teacher, the students practised their listening skills and explored the message of the story.
Last week, we, Grade 7 students held a garage sale. It gave us the opportunity to learn about planning for an event, sorting things we wanted to sell and calculating profits, losses as well as discounts.
In Traditional Music, Grade 5 students have recently learnt to make musical patterns and record music notation with special symbols. The students were then challenged to create their own patterns and choose which musical instruments they would play. The class was divided into groups and each group had a few weeks to prepare the performance.
