Sekolah Pilar Indonesia 2015 Student Exchange Programme to Le Fevre High School and Kangaroo Island Community Education

Twenty Grade 10 students are participating in the Student Exchange programme this year. Student exchange is a regular programme held by Sekolah Pilar Indonesia, with Le Fevre High School and Kangaroo Island Community Education (KICE). The students flew to South Australia on March 1st and will be staying there until March 13th. The students were welcomed into the homes of families of students at Le Fevre High School and KICE. We would like to thank Pak Rob Shepherd from Le Fevre high School, Pak Ian Kent from KICE, as well as teachers, students and parents from both schools for the very warm welcome.

Chinese New Year or also known as the Spring Festival is a new year celebration based on the Chinese lunar calendar. It is usually celebrated from Chinese New Year’s eve until the next first fifteen days of the Chinese calendar. In Indonesia, Chinese New Year has become one of the public holidays. Chinese New Year is observed by the Chinese descendants all around the world.

Cooking “Pepes Ikan Mas”: An Interesting Experience

Chatter and laughter were heard throughout the canteen. The smell of spices and fish was all around the open air. Today, on the very nice day of 17th February, we have been busy ever since we woke up in the morning because today, we cooked some Sundanese food called: Pepes Ikan Mas. It was so much fun to take part in new experiences especially when it comes to our own culture!

We Move, We Adapt, We Contribute

On Friday 13th February 2015, Grade 3 students were excited to welcome their parents to their parent presentation. With the tagline “We Move, We Adapt, We Contribute”, they presented their learning through drama. Students showed what they have learnt in the unit of inquiry under the transdisciplinary theme “Where We Are In Place and Time” with the central idea “Human migration involves challenges and opportunities”.
