2017 Grade 7 School Trip to Singapore

On 19th April 2017, grade 7 students of Sekolah Pilar Indonesia went on a school trip to Singapore to see how Singapore is in managing transportation, water treatment, the people and their history and many more. We got opportunities to enrich our knowledge by visiting another country and it is also aimed at strengthening the students’ sense of appreciating diversity.

Right after we arrived at Changi Airtport, we were kindly introduced to the tour guide who would lead and guide us around Singapore. The first place we went to was the most famous landmark of Singapore, the Merlion and its surroundings. Then we continued our tour to URA (Urban Redevelopment Area). In URA, we learnt about the future planning of Singapore and how the people overcome their problems in the past and what possibly happen in the future. We then went to Gardens by the Bay and Marina Barage before we checked in into the hotel.

The next day, we went to NEWater to learn about how water is treated in a very complex and sophisticated way. We were so grateful that we have abundant amount of water in Indonesia. The next destination was MRT station. We had a chance to join the trip to 7 MRT stations before we went to LTA (Land Transport Authority) to learn about how Singapore government plan and control transportation. Next, we went to National Museum where we learnt about the history of Singapore and how she became very modern and civilized.

On the last day, we went to Singapore Discovery Centre. We had some fun learning activities there and we also visited an exhibition about how the world is united. After that, we visited Orchard Road before we went to Changi Airport to leave home for Jakarta.
