Reception students had just explored a unit with the central idea "We make choices to keep ourselves and others safe". In the unit, they investigated safety in different places, making safe choices and people who can help us. The inquiry involved exploration about personal safety. Thus, the school invited Ibu Reneta Kristiani, a child psychologist, to explain about things they have to do to keep safe. The students received age-appropriate information about sex education and important strategies when facing dangerous situations. We even had role plays where students had to practise refusing a stranger's persuasion, saying "no", running to a safe place and asking for help. Safety is number one and we wanted to make sure that the students understand the importance of keeping themselves and others safe.

Currently, Pre-K students are exploring a unit under the theme "Who We Are" with the central idea "Family relationships contribute to shaping our identity".  As a tuning in activity, the teachers designed an event, in which the students spent a day at school with their mothers.  As the first activity, we had gardening time. Then, we had a relay run. The students and their mothers had to cooperate to collect flags. After break, we had swimming time. We had several games and the students really enjoyed playing in the water.  As the last activity, we made pizza. The students helped prepare the topping. What an exciting day!

Under the transdisciplinary theme of “How We Organize Ourselves”, we learn that school is one of many various communities we belong to and how communities function more smoothly when all members contribute and share. To deepen our understanding, we decided to invite members of our school community as guest speakers. They were the Head of Academic Division, Principal, Teacher, Parent, Administration Staff, Driver, Maintenance Staff, Helper, Security Guard and Cook. They shared their experiences about how they do their job in this school. From this learning experience, we understand that everyone has important roles and our school community will not run smoothly without them.
