Reception Mini Excursion around the School Communities

Reception students are currently exploring a unit of inquiry under the theme “How We Organise Ourselves” with the central idea “Communities function more smoothly when all members contribute and share.” To start the unit, the students had a short trip around the school communities in order to directly see and learn more from them. They learnt about different members of communities, types of communities and how community needs togetherness.

Kindy’s Awesome Excursion to Cimory

As one of the learning engagements, on 27th May 2015, Kindy students had an exciting visit to Cimory Mountain View Restaurant in Puncak, Bogor. We were exploring the central idea “Food is transported and processed before it is consumed” under the transdiscplinary theme of “How We Organize Ourselves”.

The Ugly Duckling: When things go wrong, don't give up. Keep your chin up!

A Parent Presentation is one of the strategies that Sekolah Pilar Indonesia often uses to demonstrate students' learning to parents. On the 26th-27th February 2015, ECC students had the opportunity to share their understandings through a drama performance. Taken from the story "The Ugly Duckling", the students showed enthusiasm and creativity through this collaborative work. Pre-Kindergarten until Reception students took part in the performance.

Recently, Reception students invited their parents to school and shared their understandings. They have just explored a unit under the transdisciplinary theme "How the World Works" with the central idea "All living things go through a process of change". The students sang two songs titled Caterpillar Song and Growing Up, and after that each student got ready to explain their understanding about how living things change over their life-time.

On November 28th, 2014, the Kindy students of Sekolah Pilar Indonesia invited their parents to the school in order to show what and how they are learning. They also demonstrated the attitudes of confidence, cooperation and responsibility. As a result of the process of presenting their learning, students were able to deepen their understanding and knowledge of the concepts they were inquiring into.
