On the 1st of February 2019, Grade 5 students held a Mini-Exhibition as a celebration of their learning. This year, the transdisciplinary theme chosen was “How the World Works”. The central idea was “Changes in the Earth and its atmosphere have impacts on the way people live their lives.” The students worked in groups and conducted in-depth research about the chosen topics, including volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, glaciers, erosion and global warming. We realised that because Indonesia is located in the Ring of Fire, it is very important for us to understand the characteristics of natural disasters, as well as other changes that occur in the Earth and its atmosphere.

As the senior primary class, the PYP exhibition gives Grade 6 the opportunity to share our learning with the whole school community. It is also an opportunity for us to exhibit the attitudes and the learner profile characteristics that have been developed throughout our engagement with the Primary Years Programme.

We started making plans and conducting research in June 2018. In December, we presented our projects in front of panelists and received feedback. We then continued to make improvements until the Exhibition date.
