Sekolah Pilar Indonesia's Newest International Partnerships

This last week on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th of October, Pak Iwan and Ibu Trias visited several schools in Canberra, Australia. Canberra is the capital city of Australia and the place in Australia where diplomats from all over the world congregate.

While visiting Canberra, Sekolah Pilar Indonesia signed a Memorandum of Understanding with one of the most well-established schools in Australia, Telopea Park School.  Telopea Park School is a Lycee Franco-Australien de Canberra but Indonesian is also taught at the school. Being bilingual and using other languages  is a part of the school culture. Telopea Park School is also an IB World School and is authorized to teach the Middle Years Programme.

The PSC Election

On the 1st October of 2014, Sekolah Pilar Indonesia held the Pilar Students’ Council (PSC) election for the Junior and Senior High students. The election process, from voting to the recapitulation of votes, was done in one whole day. For this election, the voters were the students from Grade 4 until Grade 12, the teachers, as well as the staff. The candidates needed 50% + 1 vote to win the election.

Children's literature plays an important role in our learning. It provides opportunities for students to respond to stories and develop creativity and imagination. Children love stories and learn a lot from reading and listening to them. Recently, Pre-K students listened to a story titled "Help Yourself, Little Red Hen" by Alvin Granowsky. Together with their teacher, the students practised their listening skills and explored the message of the story.
