“Let’s be apart of a balanced ecosystem” was Grade 1’s tag line for their Parents Presentation. They shared what they have learnt in How the World Works where “All living things no matter how small play a role in the web of life” was the Central Idea.

Grade 1 students also demonstrated the understanding that each inveterate plays a role in the web of life which is represented in a certain ecosystem. The drama showed a balanced ecosystem in paddy fields where each part of the system had a role. Unfortunately the situation turned bad after people took the field for buildings and hunted birds for their pleasure. (view gallery)

Sekolah Pilar Indonesia celebrated unity in diversity during culture week. The event was held from  Monday-Saturday, 16 – 21 April 2012. For the finale (puncak acara) we gave a performance on the Saturday night.

During Culture Week we researched into one of the larger provinces of Indonesia, Papua. It was a great week. We shared our research by bringing pictures and artifacts prepared for our performance by practising the Sajojo and Yamko Rambe Yamko dances. To support our performance, we made our own costumes.

On the 19^th and 20^th of April, 2012 all IB schools in Indonesia were invited to attend the annual IB Dunia meeting. This meeting was designed to show school heads and coordinators the latest developments in the IB world. The leadership team from SekolahPilar Indonesia attended the meeting and was able to meet with Ms Mignon Weckert, Regional Manager of PYP and Mr Nigel Forbes-Harper Regional Head of School Services from the regional office.

We learned that the MYP programme will be undergoing some changes which will need to be put into place by 2014.  All schools were assured that they must determine their own subject material and develop their own curriculum.
